Biography

Dr. Jaidev Sharma is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the Sharda School of Basic Sciences and Research (SSBSR), Greater Noida. He earned his Ph.D. in the field of Solar Differential Rotation under the expert supervision of Prof. Hari Om Vats from the Astronomy &Astrophysics Division at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad. Dr. Sharma brings over 12 years of teaching experience at various universities and engineering colleges affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. His academic interests lie in solar physics and astrophysics, and he is dedicated to fostering a research-oriented learning environment for undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. Scholars. My research focuses on understanding the Sun’s rotation, particularly its differential nature across various altitudes and latitudes, by analyzing diverse data sources. Our team at the Astronomy and Astrophysics Division of the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, has made significant contributions to this field, supported by extensive datasets and research programs that enable in-depth investigation. Specifically, my work examines the differential rotation of the solar atmosphere through measurements of electromagnetic emissions from the Sun and other stars, utilizing both ground-based and satellite imagery. I am currently focused on analyzing how rotational differences vary with latitude and altitude, as this may provide key insights into the origins of solar activity indicators at different atmospheric layers. Additionally, this research helps estimate the twisting of magnetic field lines in the solar atmosphere, which plays a crucial role in the heating of the solar corona. To enhance this analysis, I employ artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques that allow for sophisticated processing of complex data, enabling the detection of subtle patterns and improving our understanding of solar rotational dynamics.
